SellaRonda Skimarathon: after the forced stops, the ski mountaineers are ready to race once again

  • SellaRonda Skimarathon: after the forced stops, the ski mountaineers are ready to race once again.
  • 125 bibs have been handed out to foreign athletes, but registration is still open.

As in each “pre-covid” edition, registration which started at the beginning of January, showed that there was the usual scuffle to grab a race bib and to stand at the starting line of the most popular night time ski mountaineering race which will start off from Corvara in Alta Badia on Friday 25th March at 6 pm

«Compared to the past editions – Oswald Santin said, coordinator of the event- we have not witnessed the usual quick grabbing of bibs.
There was a peak during the first hours but then the rhythm slightly decreased and now there are 318 teams registered.
125 bibs have been handed out to the foreign athletes but registration is still open.
We weren’t sure if after two years the athletes would pick up with the same enthusiasm as in the previous editions. We were quite cautious and uncertain, the anti-virus restrictions and requesting the Super Green pass are elements which should not be underestimated ».

«Currently – Santin concluded – registration is still open for international teams, the admin office has only received 125 registration forms. The total of teams listed is 443».

The Sellaronda athletes, after starting off from Corvara will tackle the ski slopes which are part of the Dolomiti Superski resort and the legendary 4 Dolomite passes Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and will then cross the finish line after 42 kilometres and 2700 metres of vertical height gain inside the Ice Stadium as in 2016.
Now the die is cast and all the athletes of the Sellaronda 25th edition have to do is train hard and prepare this amazing night time ski-mountaineering race held in the largest ski resort of the world.
