| 1. The Organizing Committee,
supported by the Ski Team Fassa, organizes the Sellaronda
Skimarathon, a ski mountaineering competition that takes
place at night. The race track runs along the slopes of
the Sellaronda and it crosses the resorts of Corvara (Val
Badia), Arabba (Livinallongo) Canazei (Val di Fassa) and
Selva (Val Gardena). The race will take place on Friday,
10. February 2012, starting in Corvara at 6.00 p.m. and
arriving in the same resort.
2. The competition is open to two-people-teams. The start
will be mass start. Teams can be composed by two men, two
women or a man and a woman. For the ranking, mixed teams
will be included in the men’s classification. Participants
must be 21 years old by the day of the race and they must
be regularly enrolled in the Winter Sports Federation. All
the athletes must have a health certificate for competitive
sporting activity, released by a sports doctor and valid
by the day of the race. The race is open to Italian and foreign
teams also composed by athletes belonging to different sporting
associations. Athletes from abroad must possess an updated
card in accordance with the membership regulations in force
in their countries. The entries open on December 1 2011 and
close on January 31 2012 by 12.00 o’clock. Only payments
by credit card will be accepted. After checking your entry
in the official website you can ask your association or society
to send the Form 61 by fax at the following number: +39 0462
763123. In case of more teams registered belonging to the
same association or society, please send a cumulative form,
quoting both the athletes and the teams. Only teams from
abroad must send a copy of the sport medical certification
of each athlete and a copy of their association membership
card. The race is open to max. 500 teams. The change of one
of the two athletes will be possible only by paying an extra
charge of 20,00 € by the race office at the withdrawal
of the race number.
3. Gates. The race must be completed in max. 6 hours
and 15 minutes . In any case, teams arriving in Arabba
in 1 hour and 20’, in Canazei in 2 hours and 55’ and
in Selva in 4 hours and 30’ will be excluded from
the race. Teams exceeding the maximal settled times will
be excluded from the prosecution of the race. Teams disqualified
will be brought back to the start by shuttles scheduled
by the organization.
4. Equipment. Each team must have the following equipment:
- 2 pairs of mountaineering skis with safety toes, heel
bindings and their respective sealskins;
- 2 backpacks with ski-holders;
- 1 thermal cloth and 1 first-aid kit;
- 1 pair of spare sealskins;
- IMPORTANT: Arva is not required anymore;
- 2 helmets for the descent, in accordance with ENI 12492
(U.I.A.A.106). The use of MTB helmets is forbidden.
- 2 front lamps (with a suggested parabola of minimum 60).
- 2 windbreakers – 2 pairs of shell pants - 2 extra
pairs of mittens.
The equipment must meet mountaineering
skiing requirements. The equipment will be checked before,
during and right after the competition. The skis used by
participants must have sharp edges and be equipped with
mountaineering ski-bindings. Ski boots must have VIBRAM
soles. Cross-country skiing boots and skis are not allowed.
5. The race numbers must be placed on the right leg and
on the backpack. |

6. Skins can only be changed
only in the designated areas without any external help, otherwise
the team will be eliminated. The skins changing area must
be left by both the athletes together in pair. Fixed and
mobile check points will be set up along the race track.
The track itself will be signalled by means of flags, reflecting
tape, flashing and torch lights.
7. Should the weather conditions be dangerous for the
participants, the Jury has the unquestionable authority
to change the track, suspend, put off or cancel the competition
at any time. Should the competition be cancelled, the registration
fee would not be refund.
8. Team members must march close to each other during
the whole competition. Team members keeping at a distance
of more than 20 m will be disqualified. In case of need,
team members may help each other. Prosecution of the race
by one athlete only is strictly forbidden. It is compulsory
to communicate one’s withdrawal from the competition,
whatever the reason may be, at the nearest skins changing
area.
9. Failure to reach the check points set up by the Organization
will result in disqualification. Disqualification will
also be applied for the following reasons: - unfair behaviour
and lack of respect of the security rules;
- unsportsmanlike conduct;
- passing the gates of Arabba, Canazei and Selva beyond
the time limits scheduled or finishing the race in more
than 6 hours 15’. Possible penalties to teams can
be assigned by the Jury in case of need.
10. The race entry relieves the Organizing Committee
of civil and criminal liability for any damage that may
occur to people or property before, during and after the
competition or in relation to it. The Organizing Committee
has taken out an insurance against civil liability for
risks related to the organization of the competition. Participants
are not covered by this insurance.
11. The Organizing Committee reserves itself the right
to change whatever is necessary for the best outcome of
the race.
12. Any complaints must be submitted to the Jury within
one hour after the end of the race, together with a 50 € fee.
This amount of money will be refund if the complaint is
accepted.
13. For anything else not mentioned in these present
rules, the provisions of R.F.T. and of the “Skiers
calendar 2011/12” will be applied to this competition. |
